1 Subject content and scope of application

This standard specifies the terms and definitions of metal packaging containers and their materials and technologies.


This standard applies to the manufacture, storage and transportation, use and supervision and inspection of metal packaging containers.

3 General terms

3.1 metal packaging containers


The general term for metal utensils containing products for storage, transportation or sale. Such as metal boxes, metal barrels, metal cans, etc.


3.2 metal box, metal case, metal chest


A rigid packaging container made of metal, usually a cuboid.


3.3 metal carton, metal box


Small and rigid packaging containers made of metal with various shapes.


3.4 metal drum, metal keg


Large-capacity containers made of metal plates have cylindrical, rectangular, oval-cylindrical and other shapes.


3.5 metal can


Small-capacity containers made of metal sheets are classified into two types: sealed and unsealed, and are generally made of tin-plated steel sheets, chrome-plated steel sheets, and aluminum sheets.


3.6 Metal spray container metal aerosol


Refers to a metal container composed of an airtight metal shell and valve that can withstand a certain internal pressure. There are generally two types of spray containers:


a. Repeated use;


b. Single use.


The product forms sprayed from the spray container include mist, foam, paste, and other forms.


3.7 aluminum foil bag


Bags made of aluminum foil.


3.8 metal basket


A voided packaging container made of wire. Usually cylindrical, (also known as the metal basket) or cuboid.


3.9 metal tray


Shallow packaging container without lid made of metal material.


3.10 metal collapsible tube


Cylindrical packaging container made of flexible metal material. One end is folded for pressure sealing or welding, and the other end forms a tube shoulder and a nozzle. When the tube wall is squeezed, the contents are extruded from the nozzle.


3.11 Closure 


A set of closures is added to a container for the purpose of keeping the contents in the container and preventing contamination of the contents.
