1. What is an open head steel pail?

An open head steel pail is a type of container used for storing and transporting liquids and other materials. It is made of steel materials such as black plate, tinplate, galvalume plate and galvanized plate. And then, determine whether the inside of the pail needs to be lined or unlined with chemical coatings based on the use.

An open head steel pail has a removable lid or cover, allowing easy access to the contents inside. There are mainly two kinds of lids for this kind of pails: lug lid or lever lock ring lid. We need sealing tools shown as follows for the lug lid, while there is no need for a tool for the lever lock ring lid.

2. What is the difference between the open head steel pail and the open head steel drum or open head steel barrel?

The open head steel pail is designed to be easy to carry by hand, is equipped with steel wire handles, and are small in size, with sizes below 25L being more common while open head steel drums or open head steel barrels are often mentioned as larger steel containers that can contain more product which are too heavy to carry by hand, so handles are not necessary.

An open head steel pail is often designed with one or two circular grooves called beads on the upper part of the pail wall, they can strengthen the pail from extrusion deformation. The height of the beads can be adjusted when production and the height of it can limit the quantity to load the empty pail into the container for ocean shipment. Because the pail is often tapered with a larger head and smaller bottom, the empty pails can be nested for storage and transportation. This greatly saves space and transportation costs. When the pails are filled with product and sealed with lids, they are also easy and safe to stack because the lids are designed to fit the bottom of another pail stacked on it.
