U.S. Makes A Preliminary Ruling On Anti-subsidy Of Tinplate

On June 21, 2023, the U.S. Department of Commerce announced a preliminary affirmative ruling on countervailing tinplate imports (TinMill Products) from China. The preliminary subsidy rate for Shougang Jingtang United Iron & Steel Co., Ltd. is 89.02%, ruling that the subsidy rate of Baoshan Iron & Steel Co., Ltd. is 542.55%, and the subsidy rate of other Chinese producers/exporters is 89.02%. The U.S. Department of Commerce is expected to make a final countervailing ruling on October 30, 2023. This case involves U.S. Harmonized Tariff Numbers 7210.11.0000, 7210.12.0000, 7210.50.0020, 7210.50.0090, 7210.50.0000, 7212.10.0000, 7212.50.0000, 7225.99.0090 and 7226.99.01 Products under 80.

On February 8, 2023, the U.S. Department of Commerce launched an anti-dumping and countervailing investigation on tinplate imported from China, and an anti-dumping investigation on tinplate imported from Canada, Germany, South Korea, the Netherlands, Taiwan, Turkey and the United Kingdom.
