8 Closer

8.1 Universal closure

8.1.1 Plug

A closure tucked into the opening of a packaging container and secured by friction or threading.

8.1.2 tamperproof seal, pilferproof closure

A lid that must be partially damaged when opened, or that shows signs of being opened.

8.1.3 Screw cap

Cylindrical cap with continuous threads on the inner surface. See Figure 25.

8.1.4 Press and twist cap

A metal cap with a snap-on tab for use with a special neck. After pressing down hard and rotating to a certain angle, it can be opened or closed again by letting go.

8.1.5 Gasket

A sealing ring or sheet of rubber or other suitable material.

An elastic disc attached to a metal cover to enhance the seal.
