In September last year, due to the impact of imported resources and the unfavorable market environment, US Steel temporarily idled the No. 8 blast furnace of Gary Works. In recent days, local steel demand has improved and prices have risen. The company announced that it has restarted the blast furnace; its annual crude steel production capacity is about 1.5 million tons.
